Adonis and Aphrodite

There's a cave, dark and tenebrous,
which discreetly breathes,
In the Harbour of Latsi,
Eyeing eternally, the Akamas' cape,

Planted in the bosom of the exuberant greens,
'neath the shade of a senile fig tree,
The divine waters silently stream free,

Every night, as the Moon rises high,
The stones are blessed,
With sensuous steps of Aphrodite,
Delicately she walks,
Leaving even the barren rocks swoon,
As she unveils her form,
To the luminescent moon,

The water burns, with her every splash,
turning into a glistening gold,
The Cyprus sleeps the night away,
while in the majestic hidden grotto,
A resplendent story unfolds,

As she reposed in the magnific lagoon,
A hunter was sauntering in the wild thickets,
Parched and exasperated,
Seeking the fulfilling springs,

At a distant spread of the lavish woods,
He saw a blazing brilliant allure,
Was it an illusion or a deception of the stars?
To find the meaning,
He strolled 'wards the treasure trove,
To see what reposed in the secret cove,

At the mouth of the beaming cavern,
He heard the hum of a fair maiden,
"If her voice is such a rare melody,
I wonder what her semblance would be!"

As he stepped forth upon the beaming rocks,
He was flabbergasted to see the seductive lure,
Drenched in the cascade,
and soaked in the moon's effulgence,
Aphrodite's silhouette,
was in itself a radiant lore,

The longing emerged from the still night,
As Adonis beheld the glorious sight,
The fiery winds of yearning blew,
And the two gave in to the fervor's strike,

A blink of the eye and the two were entwined,
Like the blooming and twining grapevine,
Setting the cold water ablaze,
Adonis and Aphrodite,
dived deep into the ardor's maze,
and the two were one,
Lost,
forever,
In the delightful haze.........
