We Would Live The Afterlife

(c) Shilpa Sandesh

They stood seas apart,
Gazing at the celestial sphere,
He looks at the moon of the night,
While she stares at the evening moon,
Bodies across the distances,
But souls so near;

If it be the rule,
Of a bond undefined,
As rays define the permanence of the Sun,
As the rains define, presence of the clouds,
So does his untouched touch,
To her flowing hair,
Defines the existence of the wind;

The vigor of this yearning,
Is beyond the sensuous touch,
Be it not, just the moments extant,
Be it not, just the urge,
We would live the afterlife,
As then the souls would merge!
