The Amazon Dream
(c) Shilpa Sandesh
Amidst the towering greens,
Somewhere in the Amazon basin,
The rains refuse to halt,
Like the cherubic blessings,
Showering endlessly, from the sky,
Dealbettas and Catechus,
And a legion of such natural hues,
The leaves are no more petiols,
But are huge fragrant bowls,
Holding the numerous raindrops,
Like the Holy grail containing the divine nectar,
Canorous sounds, like the Mayan's hymns,
As the Kingfishers, Falcons and Arcarias,
Together strike the seraphic notes,
I walk,
A lone pair of steps,
Leaving the marks of their being,
In the wet soil,
Perhaps waiting,
For another pair of footprints,
I lie on the damp grounds,
The evergreen highest highs,
Obstructing the sight of the sky,
And I close my eyes,
Feeling the drops fall on my face,
Waking up with a jolt,
I found,
It was all but a dream,
And the drops,
Were your lips on my lips,
Breaking my Amazon dream,
Waking me to a new morrow.......
Amidst the towering greens,
Somewhere in the Amazon basin,
The rains refuse to halt,
Like the cherubic blessings,
Showering endlessly, from the sky,

And a legion of such natural hues,
