Silence Sheathed in the Cape of Love
(c) Shilpa Sandesh
The toughest philosophy,
That the chaotic self has gathered,
Is the philosophy of Silence,
Silence, I have known,
Strides alongside a soul's sounds,
Soul,
That is an islet,
Surrounded by a unique sea,
Waves that kill my calm,
With noises like a thousand trumpets,
Sometimes lending solace,
Matching the rhythm with my heart's pace ;
Love,
Why do I always talk about love?
Because,
That is what pulled me,
Out of the outrageous dungeons of glum,
Because,
That keeps me sane,
Sane to know what it is to cry,
To smile,
To feel anguished,
To know the missing,
To swim into the immeasurable depths,
All this, in love ;
Silence in love is delightfully sweet,
But,
It is tumultuous too,
Perplexing isn't it?
My Silence, my beloved
Holds a zillion messages,
Which only you may fathom,
Complaining is too trivial,
So here's my dual being,
When the soul might be trembling to weap,
But eyes reflect the tranquillity,
Dearest,
All this, because,
My Silence comes sheathed,
In the cape of love....
