Seeking the One Light

It was a dream,
I dreamt long ago,
When an incandescent light was seen,
Descending from the sky,
Towards the lost Earth,
I stood aghast,
And yet,
Leaped towards it, with a haste,
Oh Christ!
It was the Almighty Himself,
I looked like a tiny elf,

"This is a gift, my daughter,
I shall bestow upon you today,
Don't let the blessings scatter,
Five stars for five wishes,
For every material choice,
One blessing shall decay"

And gone was the light,
Merging into the dark night,
I grabbed the box,
Opening like a child,
And saw five glistening stars,

"Oh, what should I seek first?"
I felt greedy with material thirst,
My piggish soul,
Seeking earthly pick, to feel whole,

I asked for love,
I asked for joys,
I asked for adventure,
I asked for pals,

And the four stars turned to ashes,
Decayed with every material wish,

The lament was unseen and unfathomable,

"Accept my apology,
My beloved Lord,
I am a fool,
What a waste I am,
I sought all odds,
But if there's anything I seek,
Through this last star,
It is You alone,
My creator,
You alone...."
