Shamelessness of the Human Mind -- (Shilpa S & Mark Rushing)

Note For the beloved readers Please note that if a poet and poetess collaborate, it doesn't state that they are romantically involved. Kindly avoid such perceptions. Enjoy the work. Thank you.

Why are the misfortunes in life often mistaken
 and taken for granted?
As if one should never feel the pains of life!
Instead with premeditated and calculated measures of wantonness
We ride into steady currents of pleasure and euphoria.
 Never accepting the damaged caused!
Or try to make recompense.
We pop in another placebo
and off we live out our fantasy
accursing any and all truth
that fits not our own perception of lies ..
Every morning among the first rituals
we perform to our self made deity
Is to wash our eyes with blindness ,
 smiling hypocrisy unveiled,
 shamelessly and unaffected we frolic
into the sunsets cast in layers of guilt and hurt
But enveloped as clouds passing one territory to another.

Well, it is how the human mind functions,
We never mind the repeated joys,
But we shatter and curse the recurrent sorrows' junctions,
That's why they say,
In smiles one forgets the giver,
And in pain alone, one remembers to pray!
Do you know what is an ideal morning ritual?
It is not the bending before the deities,
And not the reciting of endless holy verses,
But,
It comprises of being thankful to Him,
For all that He has been giving,
See not that your hands are empty,
But look at that man, with no hands!
Such has to be the the inner eyes,
And all the hypocrisy would vanish,
Once the true way of life is realized....
